Srikalahasti puts a bridge demand directly before the Chief Minister

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Sunday visit to the Srikalahasti area brought a local infrastructure demand directly to him when Srikalahasti temple board chairman Kotte Sai Prasad submitted a representation seeking a major bridge across the Gudderu canal along with temple-related development works.

Naidu was in the area to attend the wedding of the daughter of late TDP leader P.R. Mohan at the CCN Convention Hall in Thottambedu mandal. Local public representatives and party leaders met him during the visit. The bridge representation was one of the substantive local issues raised on the occasion.

According to the local report, Sai Prasad asked the government to take up the Gudderu bridge and works connected with development around the temple. The Chief Minister was reported as saying the matter would be discussed with the Endowments and Roads and Buildings departments and that steps would be considered. That statement should be understood as an assurance to examine the request, not as an administrative sanction, tender award or funding release.

For residents, the distinction matters. A bridge proposal becomes a project only after the alignment, technical design, land requirement, estimate, departmental ownership, funding source and approvals are defined. If the crossing is connected to temple traffic or pilgrimage movement, officials will also need to assess peak-day flows, pedestrian safety, drainage and the effect on surrounding streets.

The Sunday representation creates a clear follow-up trail. The temple board can publish the exact location and purpose of the proposed bridge, while the R&B and Endowments departments can state whether a detailed project report already exists or must be prepared. If there is an existing proposal, its file number, estimate and stage of scrutiny would show whether the request is new or an effort to move a pending work.

Naidu’s presence also drew attention because Srikalahasti is both a temple town and a transport node where local civic works can affect pilgrims as well as residents. That does not make every demand automatically viable, but it raises the value of a time-bound departmental response.

The Chief Minister’s Sunday visit itself was confirmed through local coverage of the wedding function. The public-interest element is the representation handed to him there. For now, the safe description is that the Gudderu bridge and temple-development works were requested and that Naidu indicated they would be taken up for departmental consideration. Any later claim of approval should wait for a government order, sanctioned estimate or formal departmental communication.
