TG SAFE suspended four dark-store licences in the twin cities. One Zepto and one Blinkit are named among them.

On Saturday, 22 August 2026, Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs — TG SAFE — food-safety officials suspended four licences, including of one store each of Zepto and Blinkit, and directed those establishments to immediately discontinue business after inspections of dark stores in Hyderabad. Four licences suspended. One Zepto named. One Blinkit named. This desk will not invent which other two licences sit in the four. It will not invent brand stores beyond those two named lines.

Enforcement teams found multiple food-safety violations including expired food products, poor hygiene, pest and rodent infestation, and spoiled vegetables with fungal growth at dark stores operated by Zepto, Blinkit and BigBasket. BigBasket appears on the violation list. It is not named among the suspended licences on this card. This desk will keep that split.

TG SAFE joint commissioner G. Ranadhan said ten enforcement-wing teams of food safety officers and police inspected 29 dark stores in the twin cities and the Core Urban Region, CURE, in a special drive. Violations covered hygiene, handling and storage, labelling and display. Apart from four licence suspensions, TG SAFE issued 12 improvement notices and nine show-cause notices. Twenty-nine food samples were collected on suspicion of adulteration and sent for examination. Sent for examination is not a lab result. This desk will not invent an adulteration finding.

Raids and inspections ran at dark stores in Jubilee Hills, Krishnanagar, Yousufguda and other locations. TG SAFE officer Anand Rao said further raids will be carried out. Further is a promise of more drives. It is not a second suspension list on this card.

Hyderabad is the district line on this paper. Twin cities and CURE are the inspection geography. Dark stores are the format under the seal — quick-commerce warehouses that feed app orders, not shopfront kiranas. Expired packets, pests and fungal vegetables are the public violation nouns. Improvement notices and show-cause notices are administrative paper. They are not criminal convictions.

What is not here is a named fourth and third suspended licence beyond the Zepto and Blinkit one-each lines, a lab report on the 29 samples, or a conviction. What is here is 29 dark stores, 10 teams, four licence suspensions, 12 improvement notices, nine show-cause notices, 29 samples sent, Jubilee Hills, Krishnanagar, Yousufguda, and a joint commissioner who has already used the new authority’s teeth on a Saturday.

Until the samples return, adulteration is only suspicion. Until a court or a final cancellation order writes, suspension and discontinue-business directions are the locked verbs. The sealed chill rack is the public picture.
