A public-health inward letter, the allegation says, cost ₹500. A staff-nurse promise cost ₹19.50 lakh — and a January FIR the director allegedly sat on.

A public-health inward letter, the allegation says, cost ₹500. A staff-nurse promise cost ₹19.50 lakh — and a January FIR the director allegedly sat on.

Criminal cases have been registered over alleged collections in the name of jobs at the office of the Director of Public Health. The government has ordered an immediate inquiry and named two committees. Those two sentences are the official weather. They are not a conviction.

A committee led by Medical and Health / Family Welfare Commissioner Dr Sangeetha Satyanarayana began inquiry on Friday. Department sources said the other committee had already started. Two committees. One named chair. One unnamed chair. This desk will not invent the second name.

The rate list on the public card is allegation, not a government fee. Even an inward-section request letter, the filing says, was not taken without ₹500. Nursing staff seeking service regularisation after probation were alleged to have been charged ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 each. Moving a file from the vigilance section was also described as requiring cash. The vigilance sentence has no rupee on it. This desk will not invent one. ₹500 is the inward letter. ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 is the regularisation band. Cash without a figure is still only cash as described.

An additional director of the DH office and two others were alleged to have collected ₹19.50 lakh promising staff-nurse and attendant jobs. When the jobs did not come, complainants went to police. A criminal case was registered against the additional director. The post is on the card. The person’s name is not. The two others are not named. This desk will not supply a name to fill a caption. ₹19.50 lakh is the alleged collection. It is not a recovery figure. No recovery figure beyond that allegation sits in these facts.

An FIR on this racket was said to have been registered in January 2026. Police informed DH Ravindra Naik, who allegedly kept it from the government and from Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu. That is an allegation against the director of the office, not a court finding. A January FIR that does not climb to the Secretary is the second file inside the first. These remain a police case and a set of allegations. They are not a conviction.

After the inquiry was announced, officials were said to have cleared more than 200 pending files in two days. More than 200 is a rush, not a confession. Two days is the interval on the card. This desk will not write what was inside those files. It will not write who signed them. A cleared stack after an inquiry is announced is a fact as reported. It is not proof of what the stack contained.

A superintendent on deputation in the nursing section was also named in fresh complaints to government. Named in complaints is not named on this card. The post is here. The person is not. Fresh complaints are not the January FIR. They sit beside it.

Related Saturday cards also said the inquiry had begun in the DH jobs-fraud case. Begun is the verb that is locked for 22 August. Finished is not.

What this desk will not do is print a conviction, an additional-director identity beyond the post, or a recovery rupee that is not ₹19.50 lakh as alleged. It will not turn ₹500 and ₹5,000–₹10,000 into a statewide total. It will not write that Ravindra Naik has been suspended, or that Christina Z. Chongthu has ordered a third committee. Those sentences are not in the file.

The honest picture is a directorate, a criminal case, two committees, a Friday start under Dr Sangeetha Satyanarayana, an alleged January FIR that did not reach the Secretary, an additional director and two others on a ₹19.50 lakh job promise, an inward letter at ₹500, a regularisation band of ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, vigilance cash without a figure, more than 200 files said to have been cleared in two days, and a nursing-section superintendent on deputation now sitting in fresh complaints.

Until a court writes, every rupee on this page is an allegation. Until the second committee is named, it is only the other committee. Until the additional director is identified beyond the chair, the chair is the only name this desk has.
