Delhi’s SIR booth clock ends today: 5,480 of 13,033 stations over the 1,200 ceiling; 47.7 lakh ASDDO names stay out of the draft.

Monday, 24 August 2026, is the Election Commission of India deadline for Delhi to finish rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations to a ceiling of 1,200 electors per booth. The draft electoral roll, earlier due on 24 August, has been deferred to 31 August after Chief Electoral Officer Delhi Ashok Kumar sought time to complete that work. The final roll is now 4 November, shifted from 27 October. Claims and objections run from 31 August to 30 September; notice and disposal continue till 29 October. These are Special Intensive Revision timetable lines. Form B has not been notified. No poll date appears in these reports.

The elector base frozen before Special Intensive Revision on 16 June was about 1.45 crore. Delhi has 13,033 polling stations at about 2,697 locations across thirteen districts. At the end of enumeration, 97.5 lakh electors — 67.2 per cent of that base — were to appear in the draft. Of those, more than a third, over 33 lakh, were unmapped or carried data anomalies. The remaining 47.7 lakh marked uncollectable under Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others will not appear in the draft roll. 47.7 lakh is an Absent-Shifted-Dead-Duplicate-Others uncollectable count. It is not a deletion ordered by a court.

Of the 13,033 stations, 5,480 had more than 1,200 electors when the ceiling was tightened from 1,500. Rationalisation had been completed in Northwest, Outer North and North districts at the time of the 20 August public account. As of the earlier 17 August deadline, about 270 stations were still pending across fifteen constituencies, including Sangam Vihar, Dwarka, Matiala, Palam, Krishna Nagar, Laxmi Nagar and Karawal Nagar. Electoral registration officers have struggled to find rooms in unauthorised colonies.

Additional booths are to be created. New locations are to be, as far as possible, within two kilometres. The exact new-booth count was to come only after Election Commission approval on 24 August. This desk will not invent that count before the Commission writes it.

Delhi is the geography. Special Intensive Revision is the process. Form B and any election date remain not notified. Until the draft appears on 31 August and the Commission locks the new booth map, the public ledger is a 1,200-elector ceiling, 5,480 stations above it, 47.7 lakh Absent-Shifted-Dead-Duplicate-Others names kept out of the draft, 97.5 lakh marked for draft inclusion with over 33 lakh still unmapped or anomalous, and a final roll date of 4 November. No Form B. No poll date.
