Revanth Reddy lands Hyderabad Monday after MEA denied clearance for the US leg.

The UK leg was cleared. The US leg was not. The Chief Minister’s plane turns home to Hyderabad on Monday.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is scheduled to return to Hyderabad early on Monday, 24 August 2026, after the Ministry of External Affairs denied political clearance for the United States leg of his Telangana Rising tour. The United Kingdom leg was approved. He posted that he would fly home instead of Boston and would speak on the permission row after reaching Hyderabad. Scheduled return and a promised speech are the Monday lock. The speech text is not on this card.

The Chief Minister’s Office said the official delegation had already reached the UK when the US denial came. The original return from the United States had been 30 August. The cancelled US itinerary on CMO cards included Harvard and MIT on 24 August and Virginia Tech and Northeastern on 25 August, with an Indian Overseas Congress USA meet-and-greet in New York on 26 August. Cancelled is the itinerary status. It is not a visit that took place.

Official sources cited on separate cards said the programme shared with MEA mentioned planned meetings with US Vice-President J.D. Vance and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and that the Centre felt that was inappropriate for the stated education and investment purpose. CMO and state sources disputed that those meetings were scheduled and said any such engagement would have gone through MEA. Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao alleged a Mamdani meeting; CMO sources said it was not on the itinerary. This desk will keep the Vance–Mamdani line as a Centre-sources versus CMO dispute. It is not a proven itinerary.

On Sunday in London, the Chief Minister and Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu addressed the Telugu diaspora. Preliminary academic-collaboration talk with the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London is on that Sunday card. The Chief Minister directed officials who accompanied him to continue the US programme. Continue the programme is an instruction to officials. It is not MEA clearance restored.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Chief Minister visits are assessed for political clearance; the US programme was not considered appropriate to the office and purpose; UK clearance was given. Assessment language is the MEA line. It is not a tour diary invented by this desk.
