BJP asks the Chief Electoral Officer to push the SIR claims window to 10 September — a party request, not a grant.

Ten September is a party request. It is not a granted Special Intensive Revision deadline.

On Monday, 24 August 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party urged Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav to extend the deadline for filing claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls to 10 September 2026. BJP State general secretaries Nagothu Ramesh Naidu and Sannareddy Dayakar Reddy submitted a representation to the Chief Electoral Officer that day. A representation is a political paper. It is not a Chief Electoral Officer order. It is not an Election Commission of India gazette.

As they put it, the Special Intensive Revision was being conducted on a large scale and more time was needed for verification, collection of information and supporting documents. Eligible voters, they said, should not lose the chance of inclusion, deletion of incorrect entries or correction because of a limited deadline. They also asked the Election Commission to account for practical difficulties faced by voters, Booth Level Agents, Booth Level Officers and election personnel. They appealed to the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission of India to extend the claims-and-objections deadline until 10 September.

Those sentences are the party’s sentences. This desk will keep them labelled as a request. Ten September 2026 is the date they asked for. No Monday order of the Chief Electoral Officer grants that date on this card. No Election Commission of India notification on this filing moves the window. This desk will not print 10 September as if the roll calendar had already been rewritten.

The Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls is a Commission process. Claims and objections are the voter’s window inside that process. A party can ask for more days. A Chief Electoral Officer can receive that ask. Receipt is not grant. This desk will not invent the present closing date of the window, a booth-wise pending-claims count, or a statewide roll total that is not on this representation card.

What this card is not must be said. It is not Form B. It is not a local-body poll calendar. Form B has not been notified. No election date for rural or urban local bodies sits on this Bharatiya Janata Party representation. The State Election Commission’s Monday line that no decision on the local-body schedule has been taken is a separate cutting. This filing will not smuggle a poll date into a roll-revision request.

Vijayawada holds the Chief Electoral Officer’s office and the Monday representation. Form B and any poll date are not notified.
