Karnataka’s first SIR draft since 2002 bins more than a crore names as ASDDO; two desks, two elector totals, no Form B.

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, published the draft electoral roll on Monday, 24 August 2026, after the Special Intensive Revision enumeration phase. House-to-house enumeration ran from 30 June to 17 August. This is the first Special Intensive Revision in Karnataka after 2002. The draft was uploaded on the Chief Electoral Officer Karnataka website. Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukkumar told citizens to check only that list. A published draft roll is a roll. It is not an election notification. Form B has not been notified. No poll date appears in these reports.

Headline elector totals conflict across desks and this page will not merge them. One public account, quoting the Chief Electoral Officer, puts 4,46,35,975 general electors in the draft — 2,21,59,240 male, 2,24,73,864 female, 2,871 other. The electorate as of the 16 June freeze was 5,54,32,314. Another public account cites a different draft total: 4,46,80,151 electors — 2,22,01,727 male, 2,24,75,553 female, 2,871 others. 4,46,35,975 and 4,46,80,151 are two writings. This desk will not average them.

Names marked Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Others and cleaned from the draft also conflict by 76. One public account, from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, puts that count at 1,07,96,339 — 19.48 per cent — broken as Absent 15,17,042, permanently shifted 65,45,679, deceased 16,39,864, duplicate or already enrolled 7,09,870, and Other 3,83,884. Another public account puts the Absent-Shifted-Dead-Duplicate-Others total at 1,07,96,415. Both lines are recorded. 1,07,96,339 and 1,07,96,415 stay unmerged. An Absent-Shifted-Dead-Duplicate-Others mark kept out of a draft is not a deletion ordered by a court.

Bengaluru Urban, including the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike area, is cited at 1,03,88,363 electors, of whom 46,82,703 fall under Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate or Others.

Notices are due to 20.35 lakh electors with anomalies or logical discrepancies and 23.45 lakh with no mapping information — together 43.81 lakh, or 43,81,335 and 9.82 per cent on one public account. When those notices start also conflicts. One public account, from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, says notices begin Monday, 24 August, to be completed by 22 October, about 58 days. Another public account says booth-level officers start handing notices from 31 August. This desk records the start-date conflict and will not pick one.

Claims and objections run from 24 August to 23 September. Hearings and disposal continue till 22 October. Final rolls are scheduled for 27 October 2026. Forms after 23 September go to supplementary rolls. Polling stations move from 59,050 to 60,923 — 1,873 added — after the Election Commission of India cap of 1,200 electors per station.

Forms received from 16 June to 23 August, on the itemised public account this desk will keep, total 14,67,929 — Form-6 4,73,354, Form-6A 3,880, Form-7 67,307, Form-8 9,23,388. Another public account rounds the same window as about 14,67,920, Form-7 around 67,000 and Form-8 approximately 9.23 lakh. The itemised cut stands. Self-mapping is cited at 1,75,92,567 — 39.42 per cent — and progeny mapping at 2,46,92,908 — 55.32 per cent. An additional 3,926 assistant electoral registration officers were deployed. Notices go twice only; failure to appear can mean removal. Form-8 is for corrections. Special camps are to be held where the Absent-Shifted-Dead-Duplicate-Others count is high.

Bengaluru is the briefing geography. All 224 Assembly constituencies sit on the draft. Form B and any poll date are not notified. A Special Intensive Revision draft is not a gazette of an election. This desk will not invent a constituency-wise deletion list, a merged elector total, or a polling date.
